Built by musicians who know what a room needs

Boogie Audio Visual supplies sound, lighting and staging for events across Cape Town, and every booking comes with an engineer who has spent years on both sides of the desk.

Why we started

We've played more weddings, parties, festivals and functions than we can count, and we've seen what happens when the sound isn't right. Speeches nobody can hear. A band fighting feedback all night. A dance floor that never quite fills up.

So we built the kind of production company we always wanted to work with as performers. Good gear, sized properly for the room, run by someone who actually stays to mix your event, not someone who drops off speakers and disappears.

Whether it's an intimate function or a full band on a stage, we look after the technical side from setup to pack-down, so you can get on with enjoying your event.

An engineer on every booking

Someone who knows the gear inside out sets up, sound-checks and mixes your event from start to finish.

Performers' ears

We know what a room should feel like from the stage, not just what the meters say.

No loose ends

Delivery, setup and pack-down are all handled. When the night's done, we clear everything away.

Meet your engineer

Steven Jarvis

Sound engineer

Steven's path into sound engineering was built on the stage, not just behind the desk. Over more than 11 years as a gigging musician, playing locally and touring internationally as a session and solo artist, he learned sound from the inside out, spending years responsible for his own live setup as a solo performer.

From 2017 to 2019 he hosted the weekly Wednesday night Formalised open mic at The Striped Horse in Muizenberg, sharpening his ear night after night in a live room with bands of every size and format.

That hands-on grounding, born from necessity as a working musician, grew into a deeper technical practice. He went on to build and run his own recording studio for three years, all while continuing to work as a session and touring musician at home and abroad.

That combination of stagecraft and technical skill opened the door to Sound Stylists, one of the largest AV rental companies in South Africa, where his skill set earned him a place on their team.

It's this dual perspective, as a performer who understands what a room needs to feel right and an engineer who knows how to deliver it, that shapes his approach to live sound.
